Terms of Service

These terms are an agreement between you and THF Solutions, LLC ("we", "us"), which operates Hitch Points (the "service"). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use the service.

1. Who can use it

You must be at least 18, and each person gets one account. You'll need to confirm your email address before you can use it.

2. Your account

Keep your password to yourself. You're responsible for what happens under your account, so tell us right away if you think someone else has used it.

3. Acceptable use

Don't:

4. Your content

The places, notes and trips you save are yours. You give us permission to store, process and display them only as needed to run the service for you. Deleting your account deletes them (see the privacy notice).

5. Routes are for planning, not navigation

Hitch Points is a big-picture route planning tool, not a turn-by-turn navigation tool. It helps you see how a trip fits together: roughly which way to go, how far it is, and which of your saved places are near the way.

Routes in Hitch Points are approximations for planning a trip. They are not necessarily the fastest, shortest or best way to go. They're calculated by openrouteservice from OpenStreetMap map data, which can be incomplete or out of date. Distances, drive times, elevation and place locations are estimates too.

Hitch Points doesn't provide turn-by-turn directions. To actually drive a route, use a dedicated navigation app such as Google Maps or Apple Maps; the Google Maps links and GPX export in Hitch Points can help you carry your stops over. Which way you go, and any directions you follow, are at your own discretion.

Routes don't account for road closures, weather, traffic, construction, vehicle size or weight limits, or local rules. You're responsible for checking conditions, following traffic laws and road signs, and deciding whether a route and stop are safe for you and your vehicle. Don't operate the app while driving.

Routing by openrouteservice. Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors, map display by MapTiler. Those sources have their own terms.

6. Availability and changes

We work to keep Hitch Points running and backed up, but we don't promise it will always be available, error-free, or that data can never be lost. We may change, suspend or end the service or any feature. If we shut it down, we'll try to give you notice so you can note what you've saved.

7. Ending your use

You can delete your account at any time in My Account. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put the service or other users at risk.

8. Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, THF Solutions, LLC and its members, employees and agents aren't liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of the service, including reliance on any route or map information. Our total liability for any claim about the service is limited to US $50. Some jurisdictions don't allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you.

10. Indemnity

If a claim against us arises from your breaking these terms or misusing the service, you agree to cover the reasonable costs of that claim.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We'll change the date above, and for significant changes we'll tell you in the app. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the new terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the U.S. state in which THF Solutions, LLC is organized, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
